Wojciech Jeliński (born in 1989, Poznan, Poland), trombonist, graduated with honours from the Paderewski Academy of Music, Poznan (class of Dr Maciej Łakomy), where he currently holds the position of trombone class assistant. He is now studying at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler under the guidance of Prof. Christhard Gössling.
He has been perfecting his skills during master courses led by such teachers and soloists as James Miller, Zoltan Kiss, Kenneth Hanlon, Jamie Williams, Jonas Bylund, Elliot Chasanov, Dietmar Küblböck, Melvyn Poore, Zdzisław Stolarczyk, Maciej Pietraszko and Andrzej Sienkiewicz.
A quarter-finalist of the 64th ARD International Music Competition in Munich, he was awarded honourable mentions at the Interpretative Wind Instruments Competition in Brno, Czech Republic (2013) and at the 20th and 21st Century Music Competition for Young Performers in Radziejowice, Poland (2012), the 2nd prize at the 8th International Competition for Brass Instruments Etude in Szczecin, Poland (2011) and the 3rd prize at the 2nd National Competition for Brass Instruments in Katowice. Poland (2010).
A performer of contemporary pieces composed for the trombone during numerous prestigious festivals and composer concerts in Poland (Contemporary Music Festival Poznan Music Spring, Festival of 'Music in Old Cracow') and abroad (a project for young European composers 'Gramodeska' in Prague and Brno, 'Marathon V - Festival for young contemporary music' in Vienna, Zooming Ireland in Dublin, Estonian Music Days in Talinn). The artist specialises in performing 20th and 21st century music and has played in Lutoslawski Polskie Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw (Prize-winners Concert of the Ninth 20th and 21st Century Music Contest for Young Performers) and at the Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice ('Witold Szalonek in memoriam', a concert organized by Polish Music Edition PWM), to name only a few. He has performed world premieres of works by Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska, Zbigniew Kozub and Artur Kroschel,
He is associated with the Sepia Ensemble (performers of contemporary music) and the TrombQuartet (trombone quartet). He has played as a soloist with the Symphonic Orchestra of the Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan (conducted by Jakub Chrenowicz), the Tutta Forza Orchestra (Rafał Kłoczko) and Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock (Wojciech Rajski).
