I’ve been playing Brad Edwards’s exercises from the book”Lip Slur Melodies” for some time now. Over time, they’ve become my favorite exercises, especially section 8, “Taking a Bow.” These are demanding exercises featuring a lot of large jumps between registers, but all of this is packed into short etudes that place a huge emphasis on note combinations and phrasing.
